Miscellaneous Inspiring Information

Here are some of my favorite Poems and Prayers. I hope you’ll enjoy them.

PROMISE YOURSELF...
• To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
• To talk health, happiness, and prosperity to every person you meet.
• To make all your friends feel there is something special in them.
• To look at the sunny side of everything.
• To think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best.
• To be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
• To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
• To give everyone a smile.
• To spend so much time improving yourself that you have no time left to criticize others.
• To be too big for worry and too noble for anger.

I CELEBRATE ME

I am worth celebrating. I am worth everything.
I am unique. In this whole world, there is only one me,
There is no one person with my talents, experiences, gifts.
No one may take my place.

God created only one me, precious in His sight.
I have immense potential to love, care, create, grow, sacrifice,
If I believe in my self.

It doesn’t matter my age, or color, or whether my parents
Loved me or not.
(Maybe they wanted to but couldn’t.)
It doesn’t matter what I have been, the things I’ve done,
Mistakes I’ve made, people I’ve hurt.
I am forgiven.

I am accepted. I am okay. I am loved in spite of everything.
So I love myself and nourish seeds within me.

I celebrate me. I begin now. I start anew.
I give myself new birth today.
I am me, and that’s all I need to be.

Today is a new beginning. A new life, given freely.
So I celebrate the miracle, and I celebrate me.

THE DISCIPLE'S PRAYER
-- J.M. Hammer

Father-Mother of the Cosmos, Shimmering Light pervading All, Ever unknowable Mystery,
Yours is the kingdom of the heart, mind, and body I once called "mine".
To you do I return them now.

Through this heart, extend Your Presence as Love, Compassion, Patience, and Understanding.
Through this mind, express only Wisdom to uplift, to expand, to appreciate, to nurture, or let it be silent.
Through this body, move only to honor, to love, to please, to nurture,
to provide a safe embrace for anyone who suffers and is sent to me.

Help me to remember it is only in giving You that I receive You,
It is only in praising You that I remember You,
And it is only in humility before You that I may awaken
to what is truly occurring here on earth, as it is already in heaven,
and fulfill my part in Your divine Plan.

Om, shanti, shanti, shanti, Om

Amen

ANONYMOUS STORY

The man whispered "God, speak to me!"
And a meadowlark sang. But the man did not hear.
So the man yelled "God, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky. But the man did not listen.
The man looked around and said "God, let me see you!"
And a star shone brightly. But the man did not notice.
And the man shouted "God, show me a miracle!"
And a life was born. But the man did not know it was a miracle.
So, the man cried out in despair. "Touch me, God, and let me know that You are here!
Whereupon God reached down and touched the man. But the man brushed the butterfly away and walked on.

*Moral of the story: Don't miss out on the blessing because it isn't packaged the way you expect.

MAY TODAY THERE BE PEACE WITHIN!

May you trust your highest power that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith.
May you use those gifts that you have received and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content knowing you are a child of God.
Let this presence settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, and to bask in the sun.
Peace is there for each and every one of us. Let us find it now!

-- MOTHER THERESA
God is the friend of silence. We need to find God but we can not find him in noise, in excitement. See how nature, the trees, the flowers, the grass grow in deep silence. See how the stars, the moon and the sun move in silence... The fruit of silence is prayer. The fruit of prayer is faith. The fruit of faith is love. The fruit of love is service...

Having the capacity to find more satisfaction in giving than receiving.
Having the capacity to relate to other people in a consistent manner with mutual satisfaction and helpfulness.
Having the capacity to sublimate, to direct one’s instinctive hostile energy into creative and constructive outlets.
Having the capacity to love.

LIGHT MANTRA
--Kuthumi

I am Light,
glowing Light,
radiating Light,
intensified Light.
God consumes my darkness,
Transmuting it into Light.
This day I AM a focus of the central sun.
Flowing through me is a crystal river,
A living fountain of light
That can never be qualified
by human thought or feeling.
I AM an outpost of the Divine.
Such darkness as has used me is swallowed up
By the mighty river of Light which I AM.
I AM I AM I AM Light;
I live, I live, I live in Light.
I AM Light's fullest dimension;
I AM Light's purest intention.
I AM Light, Light, Light
Flooding the world everywhere I move,
Blessing, strengthening, and conveying
The purpose of the kingdom of Heaven.

ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING

I woke up early today,
excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight.
I have responsibilities to fulfill today. I am important.
My job is to choose what kind of day I am going to have.
Today I can complain because the weather is rainy
or I can be thankful that the grass is getting watered for free.
Today I can feel sad that I don't have more money
or I can be glad that my finances encourage me to plan
my purchases wisely and guide me away from waste.
Today I can grumble about my health
or I can rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can lament over all that
my parents didn't give me when I was growing up
or I can feel grateful that they allowed me to be born.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns
or I can celebrate that thorns have roses.
Today I can mourn my lack of friends
or I can excitedly embark upon a
quest to discover new relationships.
Today I can whine because I have to go to work
or I can shout for joy
because I have a job to do.
Today I can complain because I have to go to school
or eagerly open my mind and fill it
with rich new tidbits of knowledge.
Today I can murmur dejectedly because I have to do housework
or I can feel honored because God has provided
shelter for my mind, body and soul.
Today stretches ahead of me, waiting to be shaped
. And here I am, the sculptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today will be like is up to me.
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!
Have a great day...unless you have other plans.

AND ANOTHER THOUGHT PROVOKING POEM ABOUT ATTITUDE...

The realities of life result from many outside factors,
none of which you can control.
Your attitude, however, reflects the ways
in which you evaluate what is happening to you.
Things always seem to turn out best for those people
who can make the best out of the way things turn out.
It is not your situation,
it's your reaction to the situation that's important.
Life at any time can become difficult.
Life at any time can become easy.
It all depends upon how you adjust yourself to life.
You cannot always control your circumstances.
But you can always think positive thoughts.
There is nothing either good or bad,
only your thinking makes it so.

TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOOD HUMAN RELATIONS

1. Speak to people. There is nothing as nice as a cheerful greeting.
2. Smile at people. It takes 72 muscles to frown, only 14 to smile.
3. Call people by name. It's music to everyone's ears.
4. Be friendly and helpful. If you want friends, be friendly.
5. Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do is a pleasure.
6. Be genuinely interested in people. You'll find yourself liking them!
7. Be generous with praise. Search for opportunities to give it.
8. Be considerate of the feelings of others. It will be appreciated.
9. Pay attention to the opinions of others--even if you don't think they merit
serious consideration.
10. Help others. Helping others is time well spent.

SEVERAL INSPIRATIONAL IDEAS

Watch your thoughts; they become words.
Watch your words; they become actions.
Watch your actions; they become habits.
Watch your habits; they become character.
Watch your character; it becomes your destiny.
--Frank Outlaw

Where there is breath, there is life
Where there is faith, there is love.
Where there is love, there is peace.
Where there is peace, there is truth.
Where there is truth, there is God.
Where there is God, there is bliss.

Be the change you want to see in the world.
--Gandi

I want to live - I get great happiness out of life. I enjoy the company of my friends. I enjoy seeing the faces of the ones I love. I enjoy art and music. I love Shakespeare and Burns; love to hear the music of Wagner; love to see a good play. I take pleasure in eating and sleeping. The fact is, I like to breathe. I want to get all the happiness out of life that I can. I want to suck the orange dry, so that when death comes, nothing but the peelings will be left."
--Robert Ingersoll

Be not afraid of Life. Believe that life is worth living and your belief will help create the fact.

-- William James.

I pray that I may feel deeply secure no matter what happens to me today. I pray I am becoming the person God intended me to be.

Cicero, the Roman Statesman and Philosopher, wrote the following some 2,000 years ago:

THE SIX MISTAKES OF MAN

1. The delusion that personal gain is made by crushing others.
2. The tendency to worry about things that cannot be changed or corrected.
3. Insisting that a thing is impossible because we cannot accomplish it.
4. Refusing to set aside trivial preferences.
5. Neglecting development and refinement of the mind, and not acquiring the habit of reading and studying.
6. Attempting to compel others to believe and live as we do.

AND FOR YOU SINGLES…

Dear God,
I want to be loveable,
And prepared for a beloved.
Please remove from me the walls
In front of my heart.
Please take from me
The games I play
To deny myself
The joy of life.
Please make me new,
That I might know
An enchanted romance.
Then send to me
My heart's delight.
Please open up the heavenly gates,
That love might flood my soul.
Amen
